Wedding Cake

The cake was chocolate flavored and decorated with real Calalillies by Adam.

First Dance

Head Table

The Bride and Groom opted for an untraditional head table. They did not want a traditional "Sweetheart" table; they invited their sons to sit at the head table with them. Flowers were by Adam. The linens consisted of a green vines and small orange flowers throughout the fabric. The reception took place at The Kings Mills Banquet Facility in Media/Aston.

Harley Davidson Grooms Cake

The groom is a Harley Davidson fan, so the bride wanted to get him a cake that reflected his passion. This cake also signifies the meeting of the princess and prince and their journey together. The cake was created by Tracey of "Homestyle Sweets."

November 28th Bride

The bride exuded elegance wearing a vintage style champagne colored Sophia Tolle gown.

Bridal Shower Pastries

Cindy's bridal shower was on Sunday. It took place at "All About You by Carol Anne" at 3611 Concord Road, Aston, Pa. Carol Anne closed down the spa so that we could have Cindy's bridal Shower. The Spa is a full-service spa that includes, hair, makeup, nails, pedicures, tanning, waxing, and much more. The festivities included all of the guests getting some sort of treatment.

The highlight of the event were the pastries created and provided by Tracey of "Homestyle Sweets." Tracey created individual cakes for each guest in different designs and a special one for the bride. They were a big hit. Thanks Tracey.

A Splash of Color

I added a little color to the tree to bring it in sync with the flower centerpiece. It is just a touch of color, but enough to bring more life to the arrangement. What do you think?

Coffee Bean is unique vase filler - Cocktail Hour Low Centerpiece

For the low centerpiece for the cocktail hour, the bride approved a simple combination that is anything but. Staying with the fall colors of burnt orange, green, and brown, I came up with this particular design. Pictured are about 24 orange roses in a round vase. To bring in that fall color of brown but keeping the look delicate, I placed the roses in coffee beans. This is a great idea for something like a cocktail hour because the coffee beans give off a great aroma, and the flowers look beautiful. There are also a few random branches placed in between the roses as well. These will be placed on the high-top cocktail tables.

Cocktail Hour

Staying with brides wishes and keeping the cocktail hour simple. We will have four (4) regular round tables and five (5) high cocktail tables. The regular rounds will have something similar to this on each. These are green hydrangeas with branches extended from the top. The high tops will have a low centerpiece (to be decided).
Note: This design was rejected by the bride. Back to the drawing board.

Finished Product

In an earlier post you saw the beginning of this project. In this picture I have changed the base to a ceramic brownish square container. I have also repositioned the branches so that they are closer together; as before, I used zip ties to accomplish that.

I have added hanging votive candle holders. Throughout the branches I placed a few orchids to bring a little color to the tree. The day of the event I will add a few orange flowers to bring in more color.

This tree will be positioned on the main horsdoeuvre table and elevated so that it will be out of the way of the food, but it is transparent enough to not interfere with the sight line.

The beginning of the Focal Point Project

The formal reception will have elaborate centerpieces that will speak for themselves (as you can see from the picture in the previous entry). However, the cocktail hour that takes place in another room at the hall will be a little more subdued. The centerpieces for the cocktail hour will consist of branches and other foliage. However, there will be one focal point in the room.

I intend to use a Manzanita Tree (natural) that will be the focal point at the cocktail hour. The trees come sandblasted that actually looks tan, but the natural goes with her color scheme.

Florist Extraordinaire

My Florist Adam is a true artist when he creates. He has created this beautiful sample piece for the centerpiece for Cindy and Gary's wedding on 11/28/08. Look at the artistry involved, and this is only the sample.

This arrangement contains, Birds of Paradise, Bells of Ireland, "Black Out" Lillies, gold leaves, huge orange roses, brown branches, and just the right amount of greenery.

Thanks Adam, you're a genius.

Wedding Favors

Cindy and I picked up favor packaging last night for the reception. Cindy has chosen a unique favor of having a candy buffet. The buffet consists of several different vases of varying heights and shapes filled with a variety of candy. Each guest will have the pleasure of getting sweets and treats to put in their beautiful treat bags.

Cindy and Gary have a "Fall" theme for their wedding. So, I suggested that in lieu of a guest book they go out and choose a small tree to display at the reception site, place a basket of faux leaves next to the tree and have people write well wishes on the leaves and hang them on the tree. After the wedding they can plant the tree in their yard as a remembrance of their wonderful day and make a scrapbook containing all of the messages from their guests.

Red Hat Society Gala Ostrich Feather Centerpiece

The Red Hat Society function was a great success. The folks had a great time with the live band of Barbara Mills and the "Bubblicious" Band. "Elegant Events by Joann" catered the food that was just delicious. Thanks Jo!

The room was adorned with Red and Purple feathers like this one in trumpet vases and feather boas. This sat in the middle of a round table with dark purple linen and china place settings for eight. Isn't it beautiful?

There was about 100 people in attendance and they all had a great time. Until next year ladies.

Wedding 11/28/08

Congratulations to Gary and Cindy set to walk down the aisle on Friday, 11/28/08. I look forward to making their wedding day the day of their dreams.
